Fiber for Spinning, felting, weaving, knitting and crocheting:
Beginning next spring, I hope to have roving and/or tops of Angora & a variety of sheep wool (mixed) available for sale. Our rabbits range in color from black, blue, silver, agouti, red and white to broken, so the fiber should be gorgeous to look at, in addition to being shiny and wonderfully silky. Angora fur is 7 times warmer than sheep's wool, but more slippery to spin, so the combination should prove both warm and easier to work with. I only "harvest" my rabbits' fur when they begin to shed it in the spring and to keep them cool in the summer, so they will have a nice warm coat to stay warm and cozy in over the winter. And I get my sheep's wool either from friends who shear them annually, or I purchase them online, so if you love to spin or weave, please bookmark this site and check back next spring, to see what has become available.
